loss of control

It has 100% been the most unique time of my life in the past 30 plus days and I’m willing to guess yours as well. The loss of control over sooo many things.

When we come out of this our new normal will be different in many ways, I think everyone is realizing that. Some of those changes will be good, some will be difficult and perhaps some changes are long overdue.

What will you remember from this time? What did you do to use this time to learn about yourself or what you take for granted? In what ways have you struggled? In what ways have you thrived?

a lesson in sitting with yourself…yikes!

If you have struggled with nutrition this is an opportunity to take a look at your relationship with food, while I think food and alcohol certainly has a place and can be used for comfort and safety, we must also have other ways to cope and feel safe outside of food. Follow the emotion attached if you are noticing patterns.

If you have struggled to find motivation to move your body I would ask what was motivating you previously? Motivation is fleeting, it is a momentary feeling. Put real meaning behind your reasons to workout outside of how you want to look in a bathing suit or how much you think you should weigh. Small habits everyday create sustainable change and human growth. If you have been too mentally exhausted to workout, find the reason why, give yourself grace and forgiveness for any pressures or expectations you put on yourself.

If you have struggled with working from home, managing a household, teach your kids, or you are in a retail or medical field where you are working countless hours…you are a hero first of all (thank you) but it all comes at an expense both emotionally and physically. If you struggled to ASK FOR HELP AND SUPPORT before all of this then you are feeling it hard right now because this is the time to ask for help from your partner, family, friends, your personal trainer. Help around the house, help with the kids or just someone to simply listen. Practice this NOW because it will only serve your life better when things ease into our new normal. You are important and needed, this is a form of self care.

If you have struggled with constant boredom I feel a little sad for you. Take this time as an opportunity or a signal to slow down and work on something within yourself. Take an online masterclass, work on your cooking skills, work on your mobility, work on something to express creativity. Get outside as much as possible, check in with people in your life. Sometime a simple “are you ok?” is all they need. Work on your relationship with things like your body, fitness and nutrition. Do the thing you always said you would do if you had the time.

On a personal note I have worked on a few things like getting all of my continuing education complete, rebuilding my entire website, creating a new online fitness group for the month of April, doing new things like Instagram live workouts and one on one virtual training sessions. We have been working on home projects, long walks, catching up on podcasts, creating new kitchen recipes.

I have also had moments of sadness, depression, anxiety, loss of control and fear. This is a human experience we are all going through. I have listened to those signals and am working on where those feelings are coming from.
