My protein powder of choice is Growing naturals protein, today I am reviewing the vanilla blast pea protein let me tell you a few reasons why I simply love it:
It is plant based and contains no animal products
it is dairy and soy free, since many people have allergens to these 2 things that is worth knowing
it is low fat
it contain 15g of protein per serving
6g of carbohydrate
3g of sugar
3g of branch chained amino acids (BCAAS) These are the building blocks of muscle, you need these to repair and build muscle effectively
it is made from NONGMO raw peas
no artificial sweeteners
no artificial flavorings or dyes….this is something that is widely used by many other protein companies
the pea protein is an amzing source of iron…30% of your daily value in one scoop! nice!
Now lets get down to taste…the vanilla blast pea protein tastes like cake batter to me, It can stand alone in a shaker bottle mixed only with water or almond milk and still taste just great. I have done this many times on the run. More often I choose to use it in protein shakes/smoothies with other ingredients but I have had many protein powders in the past that cannot stand alone in a shaker bottle on their own. The vanilla really pops in this product and it has a great texture too. I have been using it for abut 3 years now and it has helped me achieve new muscle growth, and great recovery. I literally look forward to making shakes with it. Here is one I just recently made if you are looking to get more fat burning fiber rich foods into your life then this is an excellent snack or breakfast shake to treat your body to!
PINEAPPLE VANILLA COLADA
1 CUP OF FRESH OR FROZEN PINEAPPLE
1/4 CUP FRESH OR FROZEN BLUEBERRIES
1 LARGE HANDFUL OF SPINACH OR KALE
1/2 SEEDLESS CUCUMBER
1-2 PIECES OF CELERY
1-2 tbsp UNSWEETENED SHREDDED COCONUT
1 SCOOP OF GROWING NATURALS PEA PROTEIN VANILLA BLAST
BUTTERNUT SQUASH PROTEIN BREAKFAST BOWL
1 cup of steamed or raw butternut squash, sweet potatoes would work fine as well as any grain or oatmeal of choice
1 scoop of growing naturals protein flavor of choice
1 fresh or frozen ripe banana
1 cup of fresh blueberries
about 1/2 cup of plant milk of choice
a few dashess of cinnamon
BLEND IN FOOD PROCESSOR EVERYTHING BUT THE BLUEBERRIES
once it is all blended then top it off with fresh blueberries, more cinnamon and your choice of toppings, I used a TBSP of almond butter in this one.
This makes enough for about 10-15 bites depending on how big you roll them
1 cup of pitted dates
2 scoops of Growing naturals chocolate protein (WWW.GROWINGNATURALS.COM) good stuff check it out! Quality protein
1 TBSP raw cacao powder
blend all of these ingredients in a food processor…if it is too thick just add a drizzle of plant milk such as almond or coconut to a good consistency. when you are done you can start rolling them into bite size balls. I chose to roll these in raw cacao nibs and unsweetened shredded coconut. You can also enjoy then just as they are! They are a delicious snack to power you up! Depending on the size I will usually have 2-3 as a snack paired up with a piece of fruit or a simple green smoothie. enjoy!
PUMPKIN PROTEIN ICE CREAM (NICE CREAM)
One of my very favorite snacks in the fall and winter is pumpkin protein ice cream!!
I always use growing naturals protein powder, it comes in the raw pea protein vanilla blast or you can get raw rice protein in the chocolate or vanilla flavor, both are amazing! Now on to the recipe
This makes enough for 1 hungry ice cream loving person
1-2 frozen peeled bananas
1 scoop of GROWING NATURALS PEA OR RICE PROTEIN (www.growingnaturals.com)
abut 1/3 cup of pumpkin puree
a dash of maple or vanilla extract is optional
a few dashes of cinnamon, and nutmeg
unsweetened vanilla almond milk, use just a little to get a desired consistency, you can always add more
If you have a vitamix or blendtec blender you can throw everything in there and it will make it into a soft serve ice cream in about 1 minute
Before I got my vitamix I just cut up the fully frozen bananas into the food processor with the S shaped blade with all the ingredients and a drizzle of almond milk and blended it until desired consistency.
You are done! eat and enjoy!
