For many people when they find out that I am a personal trainer they immediately think things like
-shes gonna kill me and i’m going to feel like a weak human
-shes totally gonna tell me what, when and how to eat and put me on a “diet”
-she probably works out all day and eats “perfect” and is totally gonna judge the shit out of me
Well spoiler alert I am, not about any of those things in fact I am very against all of those things.
One of my many jobs as a personal trainer and health coach is to empower people and meet them exactly where they are at. Let me say that again…. EXACTLY where they are at
Health and wellness is a different path for all of us, a never ending learning process. A process that is not linear. I am here to support and hold space for all clients going through healthy behavior change no matter where they are at in their own process.
Ok so one of the reasons I started Fitness you can Explore with is because it is a way for me to reach people in a new way…body movement in nature, eating some good food, laughing and meeting new people. I know a lot of people view workouts as a way to punish our bodies but that is never going to help you build a healthy relationship with your body or movement of any kind. Fitness you can explore with is not only about exploring the outside world but exploring how awesome your body feels during and after movement/exploring new foods to nourish your body and exploring new relationships with some hiking pals.
I also want people to see Fitness You Can Live With as a very open safe space for bodies of all kinds because I see ALL BODIES as GOOD BODIES no matter the size or shape. I will be an ally to you no matter body size or fitness level because BODY SIZE DOES NOT EQUAL HEALTH. Read that again and let it sink in.
Diet culture sucks and leaves you feeling trapped and nobody loves that feeling so I stay far away from that kind of talk and instead work with people on realizing what their awesome bodies CAN do and what their bodies do for them everyday.
Fitness you can explore/Hike with is a beginner based body positive hiking group where we have some pre- hike snacks, go out for a 4-5 mile hike and come back for breakfast, stretching and chatting.
