TRADING IN MEDICATIONS FOR MUSCLES
Today I’m bringing you a very special transformation story that has me totally inspired and proud and I think you will feel the same.
I first met Michele at a group workout about 4 years ago, she was 20 years old and was actually in the middle of her healthy lifestyle switch. I remember her asking me questions within her first few workouts about nutrition guidance and exercise, she struck me as really wanting to learn and apply the stuff I was telling her so for those people I try to go the extra mile and personally bring them or send them information if I know they will put it into play in their life. Michele did not initially tell me she had even been losing weight or had come from a background of unhealthy lifestyle choices, I just assumed she was a young girl working out to stay in shape! The more I got to know her the more we connected and I realized she’s a pretty darn smart, motivated young lady who is doing the things I’m suggesting and telling her friends and family about it and she’s getting way stronger and rocking out some cool kitchen creations. Next thing I know she’s suggesting ways to promote my training business and telling me a little bit about her business and how she helps people with their social media following through advertising, website building …basically all these things I didn’t know much about and didn’t have the patience to put in the work and learn to do. So we started working together and she has been a huuuge help to me in expanding my marketing and coming up with innovative ideas ALL the time! I am so grateful our paths have crossed.
So Let’s backtrack to Michele’s health journey. Several years before we met, Michele was about 60-70lbs heavier, at 17 years old her doctors wanted her on thyroid, cholesterol and blood pressure medication. She was unhappy with her body, did not work out and had a toxic relationship with food. It wouldn’t be uncommon for her to eat a giant portion of food, be depressed, tired and go to bed. She definitely tried certain diets like Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem Atkins and every fad in between, you name it she’s tried it. As she says now those were all not sustainable for her but she wanted a long term solution to feeling better and getting her body in a happy place.
Michele started going to college, she started to see others going to the gym so she found a gym buddy and they would go and just hit the cardio machines like the treadmill and elliptical, scared to death to enter the area where the weights are. She started losing weight since this was a big increase in physical activity; she started building consistency of going about 3x a week. This led to teaching herself a little bit about making some different food choices and then the excess weight really started to come off. People started to notice the changes and she started to gain some confidence. “Where did the other ½ of you go? “ Was a common statement she heard.
This is probably right around the time when I entered the picture. What I have done is introduce Michele to the world of weight training, meal prepping, positive body image, mindful eating which have all been game changers for her. In the last 4 years she now goes to the gym 4-5 times a week on her own, usually in the early morning and instead of spending her membership walking on a treadmill or watching TV on the elliptical, she heads to the weights and does things like circuit training or lifts like squats, bench press, leg press, pushups ,lunges and sooo much more. She’s taking the tools I have worked with her on and applying them on a weekly basis and its showing! Some of the things she credits her transformation to are focusing on what she puts into her body and what kind of ingredients does it have, NOT counting calories and weighing herself constantly, lifting heavy (no 5lb pink dumb bells here) weights on a weekly basis consistently. Michele isn’t the type to take 2 weeks off from the gym and then go for a random workout she’s very consistent and that is a major part of her success.
Michele has an extremely hectic and demanding schedule where she travels for her job several weeks out of the year and she has some really long days where she might have to go to bed very late and get up very early. Of course we have talked a ton about strategies to still get in workouts and make good food choices while on the road. This is a challenge for anyone and sometimes she is not exactly traveling to an area that has a Whole Foods around the corner! I have helped her prep food for trips so she can have snacks, she takes protein powders and greens powders for easy on the go snacks. She good at researching beforehand the nearest grocery store or if she’s lucky a health food store to stock up on some essentials. A blender can be your best buddy while traveling and calling ahead to hotels to see if they have a mini fridge, microwave as well.

At the end of the day Michele does all of this for herself, not to get compliments or approval from anyone. She continues to learn and keep trying new recipes, workouts and is always open minded and realistic about all of it. It has been my total pleasure to continue working with her on all of these things and watch her continue to get stronger and smash it out in the gym and in the kitchen, pretty much just being a super hot/strong/working professional badass woman!! Great job Michele! Keep on pushing forward and never look back!!
