If They Can Do It, You Can Too

Pregnancy with a twist! #mombod

A slightly different twist on the “If They Can Do It” series today. Firstly, I will say that I have never been pregnant so I have no clue how it would be to work out while pregnant let alone working out through an entire pregnancy, but that is just what this mom to be did!

Insert Stephanie, she is a full time teacher at Maltby Middle School and has been training with Fitness You Can Live With for about a year. During the spring of last year Stephanie and her husband found out they were going to add a little one to their lives in January,2016. Stephanie actually told me she was pregnant during a workout in June which I though was hilarious as she was doing some box jumps in between #powerboxing. I believe the actual quote was “Kelly I guess I should tell you, I’m pregnant!” with a smile on her face the whole time.

Stephanie came to train with me in very good condition already which set her up for a really healthy pregnancy as far as that area was concerned. I am so happy to say she kept training throughout her entire pregnancy and maintained a really solid fitness level. She had regular checkups with her doctor of course to make sure all things were on track.

The whole pregnancy was very impressive to me because I know there were days when I am certain she did not feel like devoting an hour to a workout but totally did it 100% every time, in fact the ladies she works out with were often commenting for her to slow down so they could keep up!

Stephanie is the type that never goes for the lighter weights or the easy way out, even when I suggested modifications for her she would pretty much always do the regular version, even things like pushups, burpees, jump squats and other demanding exercises.

It was really fun each week to see her body change a little bit, but still see her pushing through and not taking any more breaks than anyone else.

Stephanie had her last workout with me about a week before Christmas and I am happy to say she delivered a healthy baby boy on December 21, 2015! Mom and baby are happy as is dad!

It is pretty amazing what the human body can do! I am pretty excited to meet the little one and I know that as soon as Stephanie is medically cleared to work out again, she will get back into it and continue leading a healthy lifestyle while being an amazing mom!
