Meal prepping in my opinion is a HUGE part of making a commitment to a healthy body. If you actually take the time to meal prep your food consistently you are showing me that you are ready to make changes to your body. By doing meal prep on a weekly basis you will be setting your week up for food success. You can do all the working out you want but if your food is not in line with your goals then good luck to you, those changes you want just are not going to happen without good solid CONSISTENT nutrients to feed the body.
I do my meal prepping on Sundays with my husband, that is the day that works for us. We plan out our meals, buy the food and bang it out in the kitchen and just get it done. Then we are prepared with lunches, snacks and dinners for the week. I usually do a refresher of a few things on Wednesday or Thursday but that Sunday time investment pays off during our busy week.
MY TIPS FOR FOOD PREPPING:
Make a list of a few meals/snacks you want to make.
Shop smart, buy local, shop at a co-op, buy seasonal and sale items, buy in bulk. these are great to keep your costs low.
Pre cut any vegetables and fruit that you can ahead of time, pre wash anything you can when you buy it to save time later.
Invest in good ready to eat containers whether they are plastic or glassware I prefer the glass.
Wash your dishes as you go so you do not feel overwhelmed with a giant mess.
Freeze things that you make a ton of if you anticipate not eating it, nothing worse than throwing away food you bought and worked hard on.
Keep recipes simple, these do not have to be gourmet dishes!
Use ingredients you have at home before going out and buying tons of things you might use once or maybe already have at home, I always do a full inventory of what I have and try to make use of it, such as if I have some brown rice or lentils then for that week one of my meal will definitely have those items going on.
Get your family involved, the more hands helping the easier and quicker it will be plus this gets everyone into a routine
Pick a day and stay consistent with it, yes life happens so still make it happen another day, this is no excuse to throw the whole concept out of the window.
Fall in love with cooking and good nutrition, have fun in the kitchen being creative and putting solid meals together
