Just got back from a mini vacation in Mexico for a wedding, while I was there I worked out in the mornings and I thought I would share one of my workouts with you. There was a university just a few minutes walking distance from our hotel which has many steps and it also had a cement bench about halfway up so I decided to bring along my workout band and my interval timer and bang out a few circuits only making use of what was available I was able to get a solid hour of nonstop hard-work! On the sides of the steps there were some very sturdy cement pillars that I could wrap the band around
I will share with you one of the circuits I did:
Set a timer for 20 minutes and do as many rounds as possible of 10 reps on each exercise.
Run all the way to the top of the steps
10 burpees at the top
10 prisoner jump squats
10 squat/rows with the band
10 bench tricep dips
I would run down and keep repeating it, sometimes I would bound up the steps taking 2 at a time and sometimes I would do a slow walking lunge all the way up skipping 2 steps with each stride.
The point is that even if you are on vacation it is NO EXCUSE to dump your workout schedule. Our hotel had 2 treadmills and 2 Swiss balls but that did not stop me from getting a ton of strength training in with minimal equipment. I didn’t just run on the treadmill for 20 min and call it a day. Get out there and use your muscles and use your body the way it was supposed to be used. Do your workout in the morning too before the day gets busy, for me its a nice reflection and stress relief time. Its MY TIME!
